What is a Good Closing Sentence?
What is a Good Closing Sentence?A closing sentence is one of the most powerful sentences in writing. It tells the reader what is going on in the story and it lets them know where the story is going. If you are a writer then you must know this simple sentence, or you will never get your words out.Now I am not saying that the opening paragraph should be the point of your story. That will come later. Just for now you should be getting into the action of the story. There are some special stories that can be made to work by setting the stage with the first paragraph. You don't have to stick to the type of story that uses an opening paragraph. Most short stories do work this way. If you do not have a theme, then you can still use this technique. When you write a sentence using the first paragraph, you need to make sure that you get across your primary theme and your main character's story line. This can be done easily using this style of sentence. For example, if you are writing a short stor y about a woman named Emily, then you could use this opening paragraph to talk about Emily's problems. Then, in the next paragraph you could continue to talk about the woman herself. In my opinion, it is best to first tell the story. The other important part of the story telling is setting up the ending. You need to tell the readers what happens to the characters in the last paragraph of the story. If you don't know how to do this, then go back and read the story a few times before you actually finish writing the story. One way to get into this style of sentence is to begin the paragraph with an action. There are several ways to accomplish this. For example, if you are writing a short story about an airplane crash, you could start the paragraph with an airplane taking off or landing, or a door opening and closing, or an engine turning on or off. Many writers feel that the action in a short story should come after the introduction and main characters and the events of the story. In the author's book 'The Art of Story Telling' the famous author Truman Capote called this method of storytelling the 'over-comers'.If you do not have a main character or some sort of plot line, you can simply begin the paragraph by showing your character doing something and then the introduction comes after. The key to remember is to put the emphasis on what is happening in the story rather than on what you are describing.
